North Union golfers 1st, 3rd at triangular

BELMOND, Iowa — Kayla Sabin earned runner-up medalist honors to guide the North Union Warriors girls golf team to first-place honors during Tuesday’s triangular at the Belmond Country Club.

Sabin penciled in a nine-hole round of 49 to steer North Union to a winning team total of 207 — 15 strokes better than Belmond-Klemme and 44 shots better than West Hancock.

Halle Rezac also contributed a 49 to the Warriors’ winning ways, while Jordyn Cummins (52) and Carys Fuller (57) rounded out the counting scores.

B-K’s Phoebe Nelson shot a 48 to claim meet medalist honors.

North Union plays in the Cardinal Invite at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Interlaken Golf Club in Fairmont.

Boys Golf

West Hancock 213, Belmond-Klemme 217, North Union 219 — The Warriors’ Hayden Nicoson netted medalist honors, while West Hancock pocketed the team win during triangular action Tuesday in Belmond, Iowa.

Nicoson carded a nine-hole score of 44, while teammate Nick Schiltz chipped in a 56.

Gage Madden (57) and Carter Anderson (62) rounded out North Union’s counting totals.

Parker Eichenberger and Jacob Burt each contributed 64s to the Warriors’ effort.

Keifer Carlson shot a runner-up medalist mark of 47 to top West Hancock’s team win.

North Union plays host to Algona and Estherville-Lincoln Central at 4 p.m. Friday at Country Greens in Armstrong.
