Mobile Clinic in Sherburn next week

SHERBURN — There will be a CREST-sponsored Lunch & Learn beginning 11 a.m. today, May 1, at the Sherburn Senior Center near the city hall, followed by a light lunch. These informative and educational programs are free for anyone in Martin County. A free will donation for the lunch is appreciated.

The Sherburn Legion will have their ‘Hamburger Night’ from 6-8 p.m. tonight, May 1. The menu includes a burger, salad and baked beans, all for $10. Join your friends for a meal.

There will be an information meeting by the MCW Care committee concerning the referendum at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at the Welcome Legion Hall. There are plans to have another meeting at 6:30 p.m. on May 9, in Dunnell.

Sherburn Theatre will not be open this weekend, May 3-5 or next weekend, May 10-12, due to water turn off and construction on Main Street. Watch for further information and updates.

Saturday, May 4, is Sherburn Clean Up Day. For curbside pick up, make sure to get your tags at the city hall.

St. John’s Lutheran Church will have a confirmation service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, May 5.

Congratulations to the seven youth who will be confirmed: Bria Williamson, Liam Pytleski, Knox Larson, Kaedin Lange, Lincoln Kennedy, Carter Cole and Melody Bliesmer. Their will be a reception in the fellowship hall at 9:15 a.m. Best wishes for your future.

There will be a caregivers support meeting sponsored by CREST at 10 a.m. Monday, May 6, at

Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont. All caregivers are welcome to share and support each other.

Sherburn City Council will meet 5 p.m. Monday, May 6, at Sherburn City Hall. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting, but to be on the regular agenda, please contact the city hall prior to the meeting at (507) 764-4491.

Tuesday coffee hours for the month of May will begin 8:30-10 a.m. May 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee and a time of great fellowship each Tuesday in May.

Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburn from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 6 and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, with the van parked near the city hall building. Call the appointment number at (507) 238-8500 and mention the Sherburn Clinic.

Sherburn Civic and Commerce Club will meet 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 7 at the Sherburn Senior

Center. All members are urged to attend. The big planters will be at the park this year because of road construction on Main Street-Hwy. 4.

Martin County West has many special dates coming up: School Lunch Provider Day is May 3; Prom is scheduled for May 4; School Nurse Day is May 8; Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-10; Graduation is scheduled for June 2. The choir concert is scheduled 7 p.m. Monday, May 6, and the elementary music concert is planned for 6:30 p.m. on May 8. 5th-12th grade band concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. on May 15. There is a wrestling camp for students in grades 4-12 from 6-8 p.m. Mondays, May 13 to July 8.

A bridal shower for Jenna Steele, bride-to-be of Aaron Burmeister, is planned for 2-4 p.m. on May 19, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn.

Athletes from MCW are scheduled this week. Thursday, May 2, the softball and baseball teams will be busy. Softball vs. GHEC/T at 4:30 p.m. at Welcome Field and baseball at 6:30 p.m. at Truman. On Friday, May 3, the boys and girls track teams will meet 4 p.m. in Fairmont, the baseball team will travel to Milroy for a 4:30 game, and the golf team will play 4:30 p.m. at Fox Lake Golf Course. On Tuesday, May 7, the golf teams will head to the North Links at 12 p.m., the track teams will go to USC at 3 p.m, and the baseball and softball teams will go to Sleepy Eye for 5 p.m. games.
