Esko holds off Fairmont 7-4

FAIRMONT — Esko defeated Fairmont 7-4 on Friday in a nonconference baseball game at Herb Wolf Field.

Joseph Hackett singled in a pair of runs for Fairmont, giving the Cardinals a 2-1 lead after one inning. In the top of the third, Esko jumped back in front in the third after scoring three runs for a 4-2 lead.

Levi Pooley and Joey Crissinger each had two hits to lead the Fairmont bats.

Nate Soelter got the start for Fairmont, allowing eight hits and four walks for six earned runs in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out five.

Fairmont (3-2) travels to St. Peter on Tuesday.
