Warriors ground Hawks

EMMETSBURG, Iowa – Kate Anderson produced stellar all-around numbers to help guide the North Union Warriors to a 3-1 victory over the Emmetsburg E’Hawks during Iowa Class 2A, Region 3 quarterfinal volleyball action Monday night in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

Kate Anderson distributed a team-best 26 set assists and delivered a team-high four aces behind 12-for-14 serving to pace the Warriors’ respective game wins of 25-23, 19-25, 26-24, 26-24. Anderson also supplied four kills, four blocks and 13 digs to the victory.

North Union (18-12) advances to face No. 13-ranked Central Springs (21-6) at 7 p.m. tonight in the regional semifinals in Manly, Iowa. Central Springs gained the next round via a 12-25, 25-11, 26-24, 25-17 victory over West Fork.

Lyndsey Deitering generated team-bests of 12 kills and 10 blocks for North Union, while Erin Goraczkowski chipped in eight kills and three blocks.

Maddie Rolling supplied a team-best 17 digs to complement eight kills and one ace behind 14-for-15 serving for the Warriors, while teammate Alexis Valvick doled out 16 set assists, made 16 digs and connected on 11 of 12 serves for one ace.

Bre Anderson completed 23 of 23 serves for one ace to go with eight digs for North Union, Anna Ingalls pocketed 12 digs to complement 13-for-15 serving and one ace, while Aly Bierstedt connected on 15 of 16 serves for one ace. Chloe Lofstrom and Hallie Reese added four kills apiece.

Emmetsburg ended its season with an 11-23 overall record.
