Early Risers to hold Wednesday meeting

Early Risers Kiwanis Club of Fairmont will meet 6:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Ranch Restaurant, Fairmont. The program this week will feature state Rep. Bob Gunther, R-Fairmont, and Democrat Heather Klassen, both of whom are running for the District 23A seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives. The public is invited to attend.

United Methodist slates Wednesday supper

Fairmont United Methodist Church will host a supper from 5-6 p.m. Wednesday at the church, 119 E. Second St., Fairmont. The menu will consist of A&W Swiss burgers, baked beans, chips, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, donated desserts and a beverage. A donation of $2 is suggested. Everyone is welcome.

Northrop Legion to meet Wednesday

Northrop Legion and Legion Auxiliary will meet 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Northrop American Legion. All members are encouraged to attend.

Benefit planned in Winnebago

A benefit for Bob Meinert of Winnebago will be 2-7 p.m. Saturday at the Winnebago Community Center, 140 S. Main St. in Winnebago. Bob has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. There will be a sloppy joes meal, stretch auction and silent auction. Everyone is invited to attend.

Class of 1953 to hold 65th reunion

Fairmont High School class of 1953 will hold its 65th class reunion 5 p.m. Saturday at Interlaken Golf Club in Fairmont. Family and friends are welcome after 7 p.m. that night. All classmates are urged to attend.

CREST to host Matter of Balance class

CREST of Martin County will present the class “A Matter of Balance” from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays beginning Sept. 18 and concluding Nov. 6 at Heartland Senior Living, 400 N. Fourth Avenue East, in Truman. This eight-session class is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults. It includes an exercise program, and identifying fears and finding options to overcome them. They will also check participants’ homes for safety/falling issues. Anyone with concerns about falling or wanting to improve their balance, flexibility and strength is encouraged to attend. Registration is required in order to provide the needed materials, and a $10 donation is suggested to help cover the costs. Registration deadline is Sept. 14.
