Von Bank medals, North Union golfers fall in opener
EAGLE GROVE, Iowa — North Union senior Olivia Von Bank carded individual meet medalist honors, but host Eagle Grove captured the season-opening Iowa prep girls golf team decision on Thursday at Eagle Grove Golf Course.
Kennedy Thacker fired an 18-hole round of 52 to engineer the Eagles’ 227-242 triumph over the visiting Warriors.
Von Bank produced the early-season competition’s low round of 48 for North Union, while Thacker claimed runner-up individual accolades with her team-leading total.
Aliyah Jones produced a round of 56 for the Warriors, Amelia Fothergill contributed a 58, while Hannah Nielsen chipped in an 80 to cap the counting scores.
Piper Willard and Julia Gardner each delivered rounds of 55 for Eagle Grove, while Ella Jensen tallied a 65 to complete the host’s counting marks.
Kaitlin Christopher netted an 80 to complete Eagle Lake’s effort.
North Union (0-1) competes in a triangular against Forest City and Garner-Hayfield/Ventura at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at Garner Golf & Country Club in Garner, Iowa. The double dual meet was originally scheduled for Forest City.
