Pipestone stuns No. 6 B.E. Area football

BLUE EARTH — Pipestone quarterback JT Tinklenberg played a key role in four of the Arrows’ six touchdowns to help pace a 40-21 football victory over the Class AA No. 6-ranked Blue Earth Area Bucs on Friday night in Pipestone.

Running back Koby Nagel, who topped all rushers with 156 yards on 22 carries, delivered Blue Earth Area’s first two TDs to help the visitors grab a 13-12 lead with 10:32 remaining in the second quarter.

Nagel reached the end zone on an 8-yard run at the 3:42 juncture of the first quarter before Kean Hicks’ PAT kick staked the Bucs to a 7-6 lead.

Pipestone running back Jason Steenstra, who finished with 97 rushing yards, struck from 49 yards out to give an early 6-0 lead to the Arrows at the 7:15 mark of the opening period.

Tinklenberg, who completed only 4 of 5 passes for 193 yards and three TDs, connected on a 50-yard scoring strike to Lucus Winter with only 1:26 left in the first frame for a 12-7 margin.

Nagel then countered by scoring on a 4-yard run to swing a 13-12 lead back to the Bucs, but Tinklenberg would answer with two TDs before intermission.

Tinklenberg struck only 12 seconds after Nagel’s second TD via a 62-yard connection with Kaden Musch. Tinklenberg later scored on a 1-yard keeper with only 25 seconds left before halftime to double the Arrows’ lead to 26-13.

Steenstra then corraled a 49-yard scoring spiral from Tinklenberg for the third quarter’s only points before Steenstra added a 1-yard TD run in the fourth frame.

Cameron Anderson made a 29-yard reception from quarterback Gavin Storbeck for a TD before Nagel added the 2-point conversion catch from Storbeck to trim the gap to 40-21 with 7:14 remaining in regulation.

Anderson made two catches for 37 yards, while Storbeck completed 4 of 14 passes for 48 yards.

Eric Lange topped the Arrows with 99 yards on 21 carries.
