BEA nets 3-2 mark at invite

LUVERNE – The Blue Earth Area Bucs volleyball lineup compiled a 3-2 record during the Luverne Invitational on Saturday in Luverne.

Maddi Oelke generated 15 points, including two aces, behind 16-for-19 serving to complement four digs to help steer Blue Earth Area to a 16-25, 25-13 win over West Lyon (Iowa) during opening-round action.

Sam Barslou pounded out eight kills to go with five digs and two ace blocks for the Bucs, Lindsey Norman contributed five kills, five digs and three ace blocks, while Alissa Norman doled out 13 set assists.

Kaylor Jacobs added five points, including two aces, on 8-for-9 serving to cap BEA’s opener.

The Bucs edged Luverne in second-round play, 25-21, 22-25, behind Barslou’s five kills and six digs.

Kaylor Jacobs contributed nine digs, two kills and seven points behind 11-for-13 serving to the win, while Sofie Blair delivered two kills and five points, including two aces, on 8-for-9 serving.

Alissa Norman distributed 10 set assists, Oelke made 11 digs, while Lindsey Norman added three kills and two ace blocks.

Canby defeated BEA in third-round action, 25-14, 25-12.

Alissa Norman collected eight set assists and eight digs for the Bucs, Ryanne Klabunde chipped in seven digs and two ace blocks, while Lindsey Norman and Blair tallied three kills apiece.

BEA outpointed Edgerton in its fourth match, 25-17, 21-25.

Lindsey Norman notched six kills, six digs and three ace blocks to go with 5-for-5 serving and four points, while Barslou supplied three kills and eight digs.

Alissa Norman dished out 15 set assists and connected on 6-for-6 serves for four points and two ace, Kaylor Jacobs tallied seven digs, while Oelke added five digs, two ace blocks and five points on 7-for-7 serving.

Sioux Falls Lincoln downed BEA, 25-16, 25-8, in fifth-round action.

Lindsey Norman made four kills, Barslou supplied three kills, eight digs and four points on 5-for-6 serving, Alissa Norman distributed eight set assists and generated two ace block, while Kaylor Jacobs made six digs.

Blue Earth Area (6-2, 1-0 Big South) travels to New Ulm on Tuesday night.
