Livesay’s 2 HRs, 12 Ks help keep Fairmont softball perfect at 4-0

ST. PETER — The Fairmont Cardinal softball lineup improved its season-opening winning streak to four in a row.

Tegan Livesay utilized both her repertoire of pitches and her lethal lumber to power Fairmont to a 14-3, six-inning Big South triumph over the St. Peter Saints on Tuesday in St. Peter.

Livesay went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs to produce a game-leading four RBIs for the Cardinals. Livesay also crossed the plate twice.

The Southeast Missouri State softball commit, however, was not alone in churning out the offense as Ava Gillmore went 3-for-4 with a double to knock home three runs. Gillmore also scored once.

Chantel Moeller collected three of Fairmont’s season-high 18 hits, produced two RBIs and scored a run, while teammate Anna Ehlert also garnered three hits on the night. Ehlert scored a pair of runs and notched one RBI.

Emily Muller went 2-for-4 with two runs for FHS, while Brylee Miller contributed a two-hit performance with one run scored.

Ava Terfehr utilized her one hit to drive in a pair of runs and crossed the plate once for FHS, while Kynlie Anderson added a hit and a run.

Livesay continued her double-figure strikeout performances by notching a dozen in five innings of work to earn the pitching win for the Cardinals. The senior right-hander allowed one hit in her shutout outing and did not issue a walk.

Miller gave up three runs — only one earned — on two hits, struck out one and walked three in one inning of relief.

Fairmont (4-0) travels to Worthington on Thursday.

St. Peter edged Fairmont in a defensive battle, 1-0, during junior varsity action Tuesday.

Gabby Leiding allowed one run on seven hits, struck out four and walked three in six innings of work to absorb the loss for Fairmont.

Makayla Lowry doubled and Saige Leiding added a single for the Cardinals.

Truman/Martin Luther/GHEC 13, Madelia 9 — Keira Benck went 4-for-5 with a game-best four runs scored and two RBIs to help the Jaguars rally with four runs in the top of the seventh inning to outlast the Blackhawks during Valley Conference action Tuesday in Madelia.

Mandy Pytleski went 3-for-5 with one RBI and three runs scored for the Jaguars, while Madisen Lewis generated four RBIs on the strength of two hits.

Londyn Bowers hammered a home run en route to two RBIs and crossed the plate three times for the Jaguars, while Addison Sill went 2-for-4 with one RBI and a run scored.

Ella Nagorske and Ashlyn Cook each singled home a run, while Sam Urban added a hit for the Jaguars.

Lewis allowed two runs on one hit, struck out seven and walked five in three innings of relief to earn the win for the Jaguars.

The Jaguars play host to Nicollet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Truman.
