Legred named to All-State team

BLUE EARTH — Karson Legred went from playing in the all-star series to being named an all-state player.

After playing in one of three games at the Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Series for the South all stars, Blue Earth Area catcher Legred was named to the 2019 MSHSBCA Class AA All-State Team.

Legred joined 30 other seniors from around the state on the Class AA team.

In the All-Star series, Legred caught the second of three games the South all stars played.

Legred played his lone game against the Metro South all-star team, with the Metro South team taking a 13-1 victory early Saturday.

He went 1-for-3 in the matchup.

The South team went 1-2 in the three-game series.

The South all stars started the weekend playing the Metro East team on Friday, with the Metro East all stars taking a 3-1 win.

After their performance in the team’s first two games, the South all stars moved on to face the Metro North all stars Saturday evening in the matchup between third seeds.

The South team took its first win of the weekend 5-3.

Fairmont Legion game canceled

FAIRMONT — Because of Monday’s rain, the Fairmont Post 36 baseball game against Mankato National Post 11 was canceled.

Fairmont Post 36 travels to Mankato to play Mankato American Post 11 next Monday.
