You Missed It! To the editor: Many of you missed a fantastic performance on Saturday evening at our beautiful Opera House. Their depth and fullness of music was created by 2 violinists, a cello player, a guitarist, a drummer, 2 xylophone players, a vocalist on the keyboard, a trumpet player and 2 more vocalists in addition to the lead — Aby Wolf. Self advocacy conference canceled To the editor: A lot of praying goes on when a loved one is hooked to a ventilator because there is nothing else you can do. Parents of children with disabilities are too familiar with this feeling of helplessness. Because of the large increase of COVID in Martin County, The Arc Southwest has canceled our Oct. 16 self advocacy conference at the Holiday Inn. Grateful for Kinship To the editor: I want to thank Kinship for their industrial auction they do each year. I have been making a point of going to it each year since I discovered this wonderful opportunity about 8 years ago. I want the donors to hear how they help other businesses in Fairmont. The first time I “went shopping” I worked for Head Start. I bought a fabulous modular desk. It allowed me to have an efficient working space, that was like new. Great weekend To the editor: It was nice to see a photo of the Cedar Creek Open disc golf tournament in the Sentinel in August. Here is just a little information about the CCO tournament. This was Trevor Boehne’s 15th year as the tournament director. Trevor grew up in Fairmont but lives in Minneapolis with his family. He became impassioned with disc golf when Jon Riggs built the first course in 1996. Trevor and Jon installed the second course in 2006. Trevor then installed the third course in 2017.
