Anna Mae Reutzel

FAIRMONT — Mass of Christian Burial for Anna Mae Reutzel, 88, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Burial will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery, Fairmont.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2020, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation also will be one hour prior to the time of service Tuesday at the church. The family asks that people are mindful of social distancing guidelines, wearing masks and best practices in helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The number of visitors will also be monitored.

Anna passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Anna Mae (Sokoloski) Reutzel was born Sept. 25, 1932, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Stanley and Anna (Shumski) Sokoloski. She began her education attending school at St. Paul’s Parochial School and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1950.

On Sept. 7, 1950, Anna was united in marriage to Erv Reutzel at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Fairmont, Minn. To this union, six children were born: Gloria, Helen, Gary, Debra, Rebecca and Roger.

Anna Mae was an extremely hard worker and took pride in a hard day’s work. She and her family made their home in Fairmont, where she raised her children. She began working at Stokely’s and later for Armour Foods and Fairmont Foods, retiring after 41 years of service on Sept. 1, 1997.

Anna was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and was active in St. Anthony Circle.

She loved her flower garden and took great pride in sharing her gift of embroidery with friends and family often making dish towels and blankets for all her children and grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gloria J. Brownlee and her husband, Dave of Apache Junction, Ariz., Helen A. Schroeder and her husband, Kim of Austin, Minn., Rebecca “Becky” S. Musser of Blaine, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Anne Reutzel of Fairmont; two sisters-in-law, Ferdie Sokoloski and Allie Sokoloski; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; as well as many other extended family and friends.

Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Anna Sokoloski; infant daughter, Debra Sue Reutzel; two sons, Roger J. Reutzel and Gary E. Reutzel; grandson, Joshua G. Musser; brothers, Marcellus, Gregory, Richard, and Wayne Sokoloski; and two sisters, UnaDelle Lutterman and Lillian Lund.
