FAIRMONT — Funeral services for LeAnn Marie Krahmer, age 76, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial will be held at Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and one hour prior services on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial to the charity of your choice.

LeAnn Marie (Kellen) Krahmer passed away Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at her home in Fairmont, Minn., surrounded by her husband, Jim Allen, family and friends.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

LeAnn Kellen was born May 14, 1942, near Ceylon, Minn., to Vernon and Vera (Hartung) Kellen. Her family farmed near Welcome. She was baptized at the United Church of Christ in Welcome. She graduated from Fairmont High School in 1960.

On Feb. 12, 1961, she married Gerald Krahmer of Fairmont and became a Navy wife. She and Jerry had two sons, Douglas Duane and Michael.

For the next 15 years, she and Jerry traveled from various Navy bases in Florida, Virginia, Tennessee, California, and Washington state. Beginning in 1971, LeAnn worked for Civil Service in Oak Harbor, Wash. She initially worked as a Navy commissary store employee and then as a Navy warehouse worker and forklift operator.

She enjoyed sewing, fishing, camping, ceramics, cards, crafting, and vegetable gardening.

While a young mother, she was a Sunday school teacher and instilled in her children a love of Jesus and the Holy Bible. She attended Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fairmont.

In 1984, following the death of their first son, LeAnn left Civil Service. She and Jerry returned to Minnesota, where she worked at Midwest Veterinary Supply in Burnsville as a warehouse worker. In 1998, she and Jerry moved to Madison Lake, where LeAnn worked at South Central College in North Mankato as a custodian. After Jerry’s death in June 2000, LeAnn retired and moved home to Fairmont.

In May 2006, she married Jim Allen of Fairmont. With Jim, she enjoyed traveling to Navy reunions and fishing.

In 2009, LeAnn was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and was a member of the local Parkinson’s support group for many years.

In her final years, she was lovingly cared for at home by her husband Jim, sister-in-law, Frieda Hoff, and the staff of Baywood Home Care.

Her first husband, Gerald; son, Douglas D. Krahmer; parents; sister-in-law Sharon Kellen; and her brother Jim Kellen preceded LeAnn in death. She was also preceded in death by Jerry’s siblings, Dennis Krahmer, Richard Krahmer and Margaret (“Peggy”) Planting. Finally, LeAnn’s brother-in-law Freddy Allen, sister-in-law Connie Krahmer and sister-in-law Betty Jo Allen preceded her in death.

Survivors include LeAnn’s second husband, Jim Allen of Fairmont; brother, Keith Kellen (Dawn) of Glen, Minn.; son, Michael Krahmer (Pamela) of North Mankato; stepsons, Steven Allen (Kerry) and Brian Allen (Nicole); brother-in-law, Tom (Jeanne) Krahmer, sister-in-law, Judy Krahmer; sister-in-law, Joan Kellen of Elkhorn, Wis.; grandchildren, Douglas B. Krahmer, Kevin Krahmer, Brady Allen, and Madysen Allen; sisters-in-law, Jody Allen, Barb (Ron) Snobeck, Frieda Hoff; brother-in-law, Ronnie (Sharyn) Allen; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
