MCW Care plans informational meeting Thursday

SHERBURN — There will be a Lunch & Learn program beginning 11 a.m. today, April 17, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, followed by a light lunch. These educational and fun programs are free to anyone in Martin County. They appreciate a donation for the lunch.

Tonight, April 17, will be ‘Hamburger Night’ from 6-8 p.m. at the Sherburn Legion Hall. For just $10, you will get a burger, salad and baked beans.

Tuesday coffee hours for April continue from 8:30-10 a.m. April 23, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life facility in Trimont. Join friends and neighbors for coffee, goodies and great fellowship.

There will be an informational meeting by the MCW Care group about the referendum vote on May 14, which will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at the high school in Sherburn. In May they have meetings planned for Welcome and Dunnell areas. The MCW school district has an open house about the referendum information from 5-7 p.m. on April 29 at the high school. Be an informed voter on May 14.

The Sherburn Theatre will repeat the interesting movie ‘One Life’ this weekend, April 19-21. It is about a man who rescued 600+ Jewish children just before the Nazi invasion in Czechoslovakia. Anthony Hopkins portrays Nicholas Winton. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

There will be a bake sale fundraiser by the Martin County Humane Society from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the Fleet and Farm store in Fairmont. Proceeds will help with expenses for the animals at the shelter in Fairmont.

There is a breakfast fundraiser planned for Relay for Life of Martin County from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, April 21, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fairmont.

Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, April 22 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 24 near the city hall. Call the appointment line at (507) 238-8500 and ask about the Sherburn Clinic.

The Memory CafÈ will have their next meeting at 3 p.m. Monday, April 22,at the Temperance Lake Ridge facility in Sherburn. Caregivers and families of Dementia patients are welcome to join them.

On Thursday, April 18, the boys and girls golf teams will play at 2 p.m. at the Terrace View Golf Course in Mankato, and the softball and baseball teams will play Mountain Lake 4:30 p.m. at the Welcome Ball Fields. On Friday, April 19, the boys and girls track teams will travel to Mountain Lake at 4:30 p.m. to compete against multiple schools. On Saturday, April 20, a softball invitational will be held 10 a.m. at Welcome Ball Field. The FFA State Convention will be held April 21-23 at the University of Minnesota. On Monday, April 22, the boys and girls golf teams will compete at 4:30 p.m. at Rose Lake Golf Course by Fairmont. On Tuesday, April 23, the track and field teams will compete in Fairmont, and the baseball team will play Cleveland at 4:30 p.m. at the Welcome Field, while the softball team will be at Abbot Field in Lake

Crystal at 4:30 p.m. On April 26, there will be a special Teen Truth assembly at the high school for grades 5-12 sponsored by the Martin County Substance Abuse and Prevention Coalition.
