Affordable commercial units coming to area

It’s great to hear that some affordable commercial units will be coming to Fairmont. Fairmont Shop Condos will be located in Fairmont Industrial Park and provide businesses the opportunity to own their own space. We thank the responsible party for bringing this to our area and it’s great to hear they’ve had such a positive experience working with our city staff on this.

County considers cemetery transfer

Earlier this week the county commissioners received a request from Lakeside Cemetery Association to take over the cemetery in Fairmont. While it’s hard to hear the association is having trouble finding help to run the cemetery, the burden would fall on the county and along with it, more expenses for labor. This could also set a precedence for other cemeteries to request transfer to the county.

Symphony brings musicians together

Summer Symphony will perform this coming Monday night at the Red Rock Center for the Arts in Fairmont. This is the third year of this taking place and it’s an excellent chance to bring musicians of all ages and skill levels together to play while also providing entertainment for the community. Thanks to Katie Hoaglund for directing it and The Schmeeckle Foundation for providing a grant several years ago which has made this possible.
