Fairmont Dollars for Scholars scholarship winners

Fairmont Dollars for Scholars recently awarded 192 scholarships totaling $407,200 to Fairmont High School Seniors and Graduates. Since 1974 they have awarded 5,243 scholarships totaling $5,874,629. Applicants can receive up to four awards for their postsecondary education.

1. Al Zinter/John F. Bird/Lester Baumann/Helen Pierce/Dr. and Mrs. Donald Ruble. All former Fairmont educators. — Karissa Newville

2. Alice F. Peters. Alice, a FHS graduate, funded this for a student attending a four-year college. — Cadence Montgomery, Ethan Pockrus

3. Alison Lutterman Memorial. For a female studying science. — Sydney Blomster

4. American Association of University Women. For a female pursuing higher education. — Kailyn Miller

5. Anna Rahn. Anna lived to be 100 years old. — Landen Meyerdirk

6. Anne Nicole Gunther/Elsie Krueger/Leo & Lanore Seifert. — Landon Gilbertson

7. Arthur & Leona Barke. Preference is for a student in nursing or elementary education. — Kynlie Anderson

44. Fairmont Class of 1960. It is estimated that at least 85 percent of the class invested to create this award. — Ilana Moeller

45. Fairmont Class of 1965. First fully endowed scholarship by a Fairmont HS class. — Taylor Madsen

46. Fairmont Class of 1968. Created in 2014, this scholarship alternates between STEM and technical studies. — Sawyer Laven

47. Fairmont Class of 1976. Created in 2006, 30 years after this class’s graduation. — Kaylee Nelson

64. First Farmers & Merchants National Bank. Created by bank donations based on Fairmont baseball and football scores. — David Miller

67. Fred Sahr. A University of Minnesota graduate, Fred had a radio & TV shop in Fairmont. — Nathaniel Soelter
