ECSC Merchandise Shoot

East Chain Sportman’s Club (ECSC) will have a merchandise shoot on Sunday, May 31, half mile north of East Chain on 254th Avenue. The club will shoot 16 yards, 25 yards, oakleys and boon docks. Fairmont High School class of 1961, spouses and friends will meet for lunch 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, at the Pizza Ranch buffet restaurant in Fairmont.

City of Lakes Garden Club to meet

City of Lakes Garden Club will meet at noon on Wednesday, June 3, at 1320 Lucia Avenue in Fairmont. There will be a business meeting to finalize details of our upcoming Garden Party & Plant Swap. Household Hazardous Waste Collection

Prairieland Solid Waste Management (PSWM) in Truman will have a Household Hazardous Waste Collection for Martin and Faribault County residents from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3. Paint, aerosols, cleaners, lawn/garden products, used gas and oil and more will be accepted. For additional information, contact PSWM at (507) 776-3232.

W’bago library beaded snail craft

Singo to benefit MCHS

Fairmont Women of Today will host Singo at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, at the Fairmont Brewing Company. Prizes will be awarded to winning participants. Proceeds will go to the Martin County Humane Society Carl Nettifee Memorial Animal Shelter (MCHS) in Fairmont.

Fairmont library Great Puzzle Race

The Great Puzzle Race will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, at the Martin County Library in Fairmont. Assemble a team of four adults, register at the library and see which team can complete their puzzle first. For additional information, contact the Martin County Library at (507) 238-4207.

College News

Briana Joseph of Fairmont was recently awarded a $1,000 Study Abroad Grant from The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi–the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Joseph is one of 75 students nationwide to receive the award. Currently majoring in biology, society and environment at the University of Minnesota, Joseph will use the grant to study abroad in Athens, Greece.
