Welcome Summer Festival committee is planning a fundraiser from 5:30-7:30 p.m. or until all the food is gone on Friday, Feb. 3, at the Welcome Legion. Plan to attend and enjoy a pulled pork sandwich, beans, chips, coleslaw, and bars for $11. There will be to-go orders

This coming Wednesday is the beginning of February already. There are Red Cross blood drives scheduled for February. First a blood drive will be held Feb. 14-16 at the Best Western in Fairmont, and from noon to 6 p.m. Feb. 27, at St. Paul’s UCC in Welcome. Make

your appointment by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), go online at www. redcrossblood.org or by texting the BLOODAPP to 90999. Hopefully there will be good weather so the much needed blood donations can be gathered.

I was told that a rural mail carrier for Welcome may start in February. That would be good.

Some gentle goals for the new year by N Hoffman on Facebook were: 1) Allow your feelings to breathe, 2) be delighted by small things, 3) take responsibility, 4) practice seeking goodness, 5) speak kindly to yourself, 6) spend time being lazy, 7) remember your dreams, 8) stay compassionate and hopeful. I have number 6 down pat. Too much of that is not good either.
