Many school events planned

SHERBURN — Martin County West (MCW) school district has a busy schedule. There will be a Kindergarten Round Up from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at the Sherburn Elementary School. On Friday, April 26, there will be a special assembly with Teen Truth a motivational speaker will help grades 5-12 to identify different forms of social-emotional pressures. They focus on school culture, substance abuse and mental health and are sponsored by the Martin County Substance Abuse/Prevention Coalitio (MCSAP). Students have thought provoking discussions and will have an opportunity to address these issues and become a catalyst for positive change. On Saturday, April 27, there will be a recital for the Maverick Dance team beginning 11 a.m. at the high school in Sherburn. The week will be Administrative Professionals Week and office staff will be acknowledged.

On Monday, April 29, there will be an open house to help explain the referendum information from 5-7 p.m. at Sherburn High School. The athletes will also be busy with baseball at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, at St. Clair and softball at 4:30 p.m. vs. Nicollet at the Welcome Field. On Friday, April 26, the baseball team will play 4:30 p.m. at Madelia and the track team will travel to Blue Earth for a 4:30 p.m. track meet. On Saturday, April 27, the softball team will participate in a tournament at Walnut Grove for three games beginning at 9 a.m. On Tuesday, April 30, the baseball team will play Lake Crystal starting 4:30 p.m. at the Welcome Field, the softball team will go to Cleveland for a 4:30 p.m. game, the golf teams will compete at 4:30 p.m. at Mountain Lake and the track teams will meet 4 p.m. in St. James. St. John’s Lutheran Church will hold their quarterly voters meeting between services at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, April 28. All members are urged to attend.

The Sherburn Theatre will present the featured movie ‘Unsung Heroes’ this weekend, April 26-28. It is a true story about a musical family that immigrated from Australia to Nashville with 7 children and not much else. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The last Tuesday coffee hours for April will be held 8:30-10 a.m. April 30, at Sinn Family Celebration of Life facility in Trimont. Join friends and neighbors for coffee, goodies and great fellowship. Tuesday coffee hours for the month of May will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome.

Condolences to the families of former residents, Ann Seifert and Dana Musser, who passed away recently. They will be missed by friends and family.

Trimont Chamber of Commerce annual pancake feed was postponed and will now be held 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at Triumph Hall in Trimont. The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes with syrup, eggs, sausage, juice, coffee and milk. This is a free will donation.
