Saturday is clean up day

SHERBURN — The MCW golf team will have a golf meet vs. Blue Earth beginning 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Minn Iowa Golf Course in Elmore. Also, the softball team will have a game against Jackson at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Welcome ball field, and the elementary music concert will be held 7 p.m. at the Trimont School. On Friday, the girls golf team will go to the Prairie Ridge Golf Course at 1:30 p.m., the baseball team will play against GFW at 4:30 p.m. in Welcome, and the softball team will travel to New Ulm to play MVL at 5 p.m. On Saturday, the baseball team will play a game vs. HLO at 11 a.m. at the Welcome ball fields, and the softball team will travel to Ellsworth at 11 a.m. Good luck MCW athletes.

Condolences to the area families of Donald Faber Sr. and Russ Peterson. They will be missed.

Sherburn Theatre will again feature the movie “Father Stu” this weekend. Show times will be 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Saturday is Clean Up Day in Sherburn and a truck will be behind the city hall building for those who would like to bring their stuff without charge. There is curbside pickup of items with a tag starting at 8 a.m. Appliances and electronics can be brought to the city hall location for a fee. Remember the tagged items on the curb should be only 5 foot by 10 foot by 4 foot high.

The Sherburn Legion will have a steak fry from 5-8 p.m. Saturday with a choice of rib eye, smoked pork chop or shrimp with a salad bar, baked potato and garlic toast for $17.

Sherburn Liquor Store is having drawings for prizes every Monday and Friday during the month of May.

Ruby’s Pantry will have a food distribution in Sherburn from 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, May 16, at the Regional Worship Center just south of

I-90. There is no residential or income guidelines. Boxes will be put in the trunk, just drive up and pay the $25, or show your proof of payment number.

Congratulations to the 45 MCW FFA members who went to the FFA State Convention. Many of the teams placed in some top numbers. The Farm Business Management Career Development event team became state champions and will advance to the National FFA Convention in October. They were Tanner Sinn, Jacob Fiala, Christian Bachenberg and Raef Omvig. The Forestry Team placed third. The Horse Evaluation Team placed fourth. The Youthful Soils Team placed fourth. The Agricultural Sales Team placed fifth and the Agricultural Mechanics Team placed 15th in the state. Many of the individuals received gold and silver rankings.
