Welcome Legion Spring Vendor Show on Saturday

WELCOME — The Welcome Legion Auxiliary will have a Spring Vendor Show from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 2, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center/St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome. Breakfast will be served for a free-will donation. Many vendors with crafts and gifts will be present. Plan to attend.

The Welcome Historical Society Museum will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 2. Check out the interesting exhibits from Welcome’s history. The Martin Luther High School in Northrop will have a plant sale from today, Friday, May 1, to Friday, May 8, including hanging baskets and patio pots in time for Mother’s Day, which is on Sunday, May 10.

St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have a service at 8 a.m. and a confirmation service for 16 youth at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 3. Their partner church, St. Paul’s in Wilbert, will have a 10 a.m service. Congratulations to the confirmands.

The St. John’s Friendship Club will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 4, at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. Membership at St. John’s is not required. Area residents are welcome to join the fun.

Coffee Hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in May at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Join friends and neighbors for great coffee, treats and fellowship.

The Welcome City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, at City Hall. Public comments and questions are accepted at the start of the meetings. To be on the regular agenda, contact the City Hall at (507) 728-8740 before the meeting.

A CREST Lunch and Learn program will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. These fun and educational programs are free to Martin County senior citizens. CREST appreciates a free-will donation.

Condolences to the family of William “Bill” Julin from Trimont, who passed away recently. He will be missed by family and friends.

The Circle of Faith Parishes will have an event at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, at Waverly Lutheran Church in Trimont. Bishop Dee Pederson will speak about the companion synod and her recent trip to South Africa. Area residents are welcome to join.

American Red Cross blood drives will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, May 18, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Blood supply is extremely low, so donate blood if you are eligible (ages 16 or older, weigh 110 pounds or more and in good health). Thank you.

The fate of the Welcome Summer Festival is still unknown, and it will probably not be held. Planning for the 2027 festival should be complete now. There are plans for a Car Show on July 18 near downtown Welcome and the Welcome Fire Department’s Relief Association will have its Chicken Feed on July 17. There are plans for City-wide Rummage Sales for that weekend.
