Informational meeting tonight

SHERBURN – Wow… this Sunday will be Halloween and next week will already be the month of November.

There is a second open house to get information from Department of Transportation about the proposed Highway 263 project from I-90 to Ceylon and the I-90 Sherburn to Fairmont project, which both will be done in 2022, from 5-7 p.m. tonight in the back room at Legends ll in Ceylon. If you are unable to attend the open house, information may also be obtained online at mndot.gov/d7/projects/hwy263Ceylon.

On Thursday the Maverick cross-country and volleyball teams will be in sectional and subsectional games. The football team will also have a sectional playoff game on Saturday. Good luck to these Maverick athletes.

Just a reminder that the Sherburn Theatre will be closed this coming weekend.

There will be a Red Cross blood drive from 12:30-5:30 p.m. Monday at Martin Luther High School in Northrop. Also, there will be a blood drive from 1-6 p.m. on Nov. 8, at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. Please give the gift of life, blood. One donation could save up to three people. Walk-ins are not recommended, so make an appointment by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767), go online at www.redcrossblood.org, or text BLOOD APP to 90999. Find donation sites or make an appointment. Bring a Rapid Pass on donation day and decrease the time spent before the donation.

Welcome senior citizens will meet for a noon potluck and fellowship on Monday. All area senior citizens are welcome to join them. Bring a dish to pass and your eating utensils.

Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, and Wednesday, Nov. 3, behind the city hall in Sherburn. To make an appointment, call (507) 238-8500 and mention the Sherburn clinic.

There will be a caregivers group meeting 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont.

Tuesday is Election Night so don’t forget to vote. Townships vote at their township hall and Sherburn residents vote at Sherburn City Hall.

There will be a ‘Lunch and Learn’ meeting 11 a.m. Nov. 3 at the Sherburn Senior Citizens Hall. These are open to all Martin County residents free of charge.

Sherburn Legion will have their ‘Hamburger Night’ from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3. They will serve grilled burgers with all the fixings and beans for $8. The legion in Sherburn has several events coming up in November. First, fireman’s turkey bingo is planned 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 5. Next, there will be a Veterans Day supper on Nov. 11, and finally, the Sherburn Lions Club will have their prime rib fundraiser supper on Nov. 20. Mark your calendars and plan to attend.

Condolences to the families of Beulah Erickson, a former teacher in Sherburn, Frances Schaffer (Don), a former resident of Sherburn, and Gene Wertheimer of Sherburn. They will be missed.
