Mayo Mobile Clinic in Sherburn May 4

SHERBURN — This weekend is the beginning of May. The Circle of Faith Parishes will meet at 9 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome or at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont in May. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have an 8 a.m. service, and its partner church will have a 10 a.m. service. On May 3, St. John’s will also have a special 10:30 a.m. service, the confirmation service for 16 youth. The Assembly of God Regional Worship Center in Sherburn has 10 a.m. Sunday services and Bible study on Wednesday evenings at 5:30, beginning with a meal. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn continues the Sunday Services at 10:30 a.m. through June. Area residents are welcome to join any of these congregations for services.

CREST will have a Caregiver Support Group meeting at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 4, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont.

The Friendship Club from St. John’s will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 4, in the banquet room at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. Area residents are welcome to join them. Membership at St. John’s is not required. Join them for fun, fellowship and lunch.

The Mayo Mobile Clinic will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, May 4, and Wednesday, May 6, on 1st Street, near the City Hall, in Sherburn. Call the appointment number at (507) 238-8500 and mention the Sherburn Clinic.

The Sherburn City Council will meet at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 4, at City Hall. Public comments and questions will be accepted at the start of the meeting. To be on the regular agenda, contact City Hall at (507) 764-4491 or in person.

The Civic and Commerce Club in Sherburn will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. They will discuss the Main Street planters and other business. If anyone would like to help with planting expenses, please contact them or send donations to Box 108, Sherburn, MN 56171. Tuesday Coffee Hours in May will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in May at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Join friends and neighbors for great coffee, treats and fellowship.

A CREST Lunch-N-Learn program will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. Call (507) 235-3833 for more information or to RSVP for the program and lunch. These programs are free to senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free-will donation.

Hamburger Night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, at the Sherburn Legion. $12 will purchase a burger, beans and a salad. The Sherburn Legion will also have its Steak Fry Night from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 9. The menu includes your choice of ribeye steak ($22), shrimp, or smoked pork chop ($18) with salad bar, baked potato and garlic toast. Plan to attend.

Pork chops are also on the menu for the Fox Lake Golf Club fundraiser Pork Chop Dinner, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 17. Tickets are available at the Golf Club or through any member for $17 at the door or $15 pre sale. The dinner also includes baked beans and a baked potato with beverages available for sale. The Martin County Pork Producers will grill the pork chops. Sounds delicious.

The Martin County West Schools will have an early dismissal at 12:15 p.m. today, April 29. The last day of school is May 29. The kindergarten to second-grade concert will be at 6 p.m. on May 4 at 6 p.m. at the Sherburn High School gym. The choir concert will be at 7 p.m. on May 6, at MCW High School in Sherburn. The baseball team will travel to Franklin Rogers Ball Field in Mankato for a 7 p.m. game on April 30. The baseball team will travel to Truman on May 1 for a game vs GHEC-T-ML at 4 p.m. They will be at Welcome’s Ball Field at 3:30 p.m. vs Cleveland. The Softball team will play in Adrian on May 2 at 10 a.m., and on May 4, they will host MVL at the Welcome Ball fields at 5 p.m. On May 5, the Softball team will play at St. Mary Sleepy Eye at 5 p.m. and on May 8 at Madelia. Golf for the MCW boys and girls is scheduled for May 1 at the Fox Lake Golf Course at 3:30 p.m. vs New Ulm and Madelia. On May 4, they will meet at Oakdale Golf Club at noon. The Track and Field team will meet various schools at the Fairmont Track on May 1 at 4 p.m. Good luck, Mavericks.
