Fairmont Speech claims third at State, three speakers earn gold

FAIRMONT/BROOKLYN PARK — Fourteen Fairmont High School Speech Team speakers competed at the Minnesota State High School League Class A State Speech Tournament on Saturday, April 25, at Park Center High School in Brooklyn Park.

Fairmont placed third for the third year in a row with 33 points. Six speakers were finalists. Three speakers were individual champions.

Senior Belinda Lutterman was the State Champion in Extemporaneous Speaking.

Junior Allie Streit was the State Champion in Informative Speaking.

Junior Leon Yang was the State Champion in Humorous Interpretation.

Senior Cooper Gudahl took fifth place in Dramatic Interpretation.

Sophomore Bella Coan took fifth place in Original Oratory.

Sophomore Evan Reyelts took eighth place in Storytelling.
