Blue Earth Area approves contract

BLUE EARTH — Blue Earth Area School Board has approved the master contract with the Blue Earth Area Education Association, the union representing teachers.

“Negotiations had started last summer and the process was delayed a little due to the change in administration,” said Superintendent Mandy Fletcher.

During her report at the board meeting earlier this week, Fletcher noted the impact COVID-19 is having on the district.

“Prom is postponed,” she said. “We might even move the date to summer. No firm decision has been made on graduation. Spring sports are on hold, but we are urging coaches to make contact with the athletes.”

In other news, the board voted to change the high school schedule to a seven-period day beginning with the 2021-22 school year.

In another matter, the board voted to approve the retirement of Dan Brod, district transportation coordinator. He has served the district for more than 20 years.
