Blood drive set for Monday in Truman

TRUMAN — Lewisville firefighters’ 81st annual feather party is Friday evening. The doors will open at 7 p.m. at the fire hall. Everybody can come and have fun.

Firefighters with badges are admitted for free.

Funds generated will be used for the operation of the Lewisville Fire Department, so buy your tickets in advance from any firefighter or at the door. This is sponsored by the Lewisville Volunteer Firefighting Company.

American Red Cross blood drive will be noon to 6 p.m. Monday at the Truman Community Building. To make an appointment, call Yvonne at (507) 776-8555 or call the Red Cross at (800) 733-2767 or go online to redcrossblood.org.

A 55+ defensive driving refresher course is scheduled 5:30-9:30 p.m. Monday in the Truman High School board room. Please enter through the main high school door (No. 6) on the north side of the building.

Truman Church of Christ will hold its Thanksgiving service at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Refreshments will be served following the service.

There will be no school Tuesday for Truman Public School students. This is a teacher workshop day, then Wednesday through Friday is Thanksgiving break.

Trinity Lutheran Church will hold a Thanksgiving worship service at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. You are welcome to join them.

St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church will hold a Thanksgiving worship service at 9 a.m. Thanksgiving Day.

Minnesota Department of Natural Resources offers a variety of freebies to military personnel. Minnesotans serving in any branch or unit of the U.S. armed forces are eligible to receive free state park vehicle permits. They also do not need to purchase passes to use ski trails.

Residents on leave from the military may be eligible to hunt small game and fish legally without purchasing licenses.

Military personnel also may apply to receive preference in drawings for deer, bear and turkey hunting lotteries.

Dec. 2 — The 2020 truth-in-taxation meeting will be 6 p.m. at Truman City Hall.

Dec. 3 — Registration due to Community Education for making holiday wrapping paper, open to all ages

Dec. 7 — Annual cookie walk from 8-10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. Holiday craft and vendor fair along with junior/senior class bake sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with lunch by the THS after-prom committee.

Dec. 8 — Beef commercial meal at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Antrim, rural Truman.

Dec. 9 — Truman Elementary Christmas concert at 7 p.m.

Dec. 10 — Santa’s shopping spree for children, grades K-6 who are students at the Truman public or parochial school, from 3:30-5 p.m. at the Truman Community Building.

Dec. 12 — Christmas craft fun for ages K-5 grades is due. The cost is $5.

Dec. 16 — Truman High School Band and Choir Christmas performance at 7 p.m.

Dec. 17 — Christmas craft event for kids, grades K-5, to be held from 3:15-4:15 p.m.
