Police: Man threatened County Attorney

FAIRMONT — A Fairmont man is facing felony charges in Martin County after allegedly threatening the County Attorney.

Bradley Steven Post, 56, has been charged with one count of terroristic threats and one count of harassment. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Post also has been charged with stalking, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

According to the complaint:

On Aug. 30, a Fairmont police officer met with County Attorney Terry Viesselman at his office in Fairmont. Viesselman reported that over the past month, Post had made about five calls to his office, leaving voicemails. He said the voicemails were largely rambling, except for a voicemail Aug. 29, when Post left a message that caused him to feel threatened and concerned for his safety, as well as the safety of his staff.

The officer listened to the voicemail. In the message, Post said judgement day is coming real soon. Post ended the message with laughter, and the officer believed Post sounded agitated and angry.

The officer then contacted Martin County Sheriff Jeff Markquart, who said that over the past month, Post had left him about 50 voicemails, although none had been threatening.

The officer contacted Post, who admitted to calling the County Attorney and sheriff.

Post has two convictions for stalking, in 2016 and 2017.

The County Attorney’s Office has prosecuted Post for criminal matters and civil commitment matters in the past.

Post was arrested later in the evening on Aug. 30.
