Aaliyah is the daughter of Harley and Alysia Bolstad of Trimont. 10-year-old She was injured in a swimming accident in July. While playing, she jumped into a pool and was impaled by a metal rod that sank 2 feet into her abdomen and chest cavity.

She was airlifted to Rochester, where doctors performed surgery involving breath ventilators, drainage tubes, a chest tube for a collapsed lung and a temporary colostomy bag.

She has since suffered an infection in her lungs and was readmitted to the hospital in August.

More surgery is needed to reverse the colostomy bag.

The benefit will help her family pay for some of her medical bills.

Plans are being made for an all-school reunion for Sherburn High School graduates and faculty to be held June 19-21, 2020, in conjunction with the annual Sherburn Holiday Festival.

The reunion will be held that Saturday in the city park. Activities for alumni to attend that weekend will be a firemen’s chicken feed and dance; food and entertainment in the park; a street dance on Saturday; and the parade on Sunday.

Classes are encouraged to make plans for their gathering and hold their own reunion on Saturday evening and then participate in the parade. No formal invitations will be mailed out so they are relying on all Sherburn High School alumni to spread the word. More information will be on the SHS Facebook page, in the Martin County Star and in this column.

If there is anyone who would be willing to help in any way with the planning, call Sally Yahnke at (507) 764-7201 or Becky Mulso at (507) 764-6741.

All you Sherburn graduates or families of SHS graduates: Please get the word out to friends, family members and former classmates.

When you get your 2020 calendars, make sure to circle those dates of June 19-21.
