Sherburn Civic and Commerce Club to host auction

SHERBURN — First Congregational United Church of Christ in Sherburn will be hosting a three-meat buffet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at their church located at 212 North Prairie in Sherburn. There will be a free will donation for the meal (suggested donation is $8). The church is handicap-accessible. Everyone is welcome.

Friendship Club at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn would like to invite anyone who’s interested to join them Monday to hear Marianne Hagen share some of her experiences growing up in war-torn Germany. The event will begin 1:30 p.m. at their church at 317 South Main St. in Sherburn. Mrs. Hagen has a fascinating story to tell. Everyone is welcome to come and hear it. St. John’s ladies will prepare a German-inspired lunch for you to enjoy after the program.

Adeline Simmons will celebrate her 94th birthday 2 p.m. Friday at Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn. All friends are invited to stop and wish her well and help her celebrate.

2019 Relay for Life of Martin County will hold a committee and team captain’s meeting 5:30 p.m. Monday in the main meeting room at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont.

A “Lunch and Learn” event sponsored by CREST and Temperance Lake Ridge will be held 11 a.m. April 3, at the Senior Citizens Center in Sherburn. The guest speaker will be Greta Lintelman, who will give a presentation on Heaven’s Table in Fairmont. Following the program, CREST will provide a salad luncheon with spring desserts. A free will donation is appreciated to help defray the cost of the meal. Everyone in the area is welcome to come to the presentation, lunch and visiting.

Sherburn Civic and Commerce Club will have a meeting 6 p.m. Tuesday at Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn. The meeting is open to the public.

Early Childhood screening dates at Martin County West Elementary School in Sherburn will be April 8 and 9. If you have a 3 or 4 year-old child that hasn’t been screened or you haven’t been contacted, please call MCW Community Education at (507) 764-2336 and they will help you set up an appointment.

Sherburn Civic and Commerce Club will host a soup and sandwich supper and auction April 8, at the Sherburn American Legion Club. The meal will be served 5 p.m., with the auction getting underway around 6 p.m.

There is still time to get your tickets for the Sherburn Lions Club prime rib supper that will be held April 6, at the Sherburn American Legion. Serving will be 5-8 p.m. that night. The cost is $17 a ticket. Tickets are available from any Lions Club member, Bank Midwest in Sherburn, Amborn Lumber in Sherburn and the Photo Press in Fairmont.

MCW high school band and choir members leave today for a trip to Nashville. They will return home on Saturday. Have a safe and enjoyable trip.

Thank you to the cast and crew and director Biny Claussen for their entertaining performance of “Our Town” last weekend at the Sherburn Theatre. All your hard work was most appreciated.
