WELCOME — There will be a cribbage tournament today at the Welcome Legion, with registration at 1:15 p.m. and play beginning at 1:30 p.m.

The public is invited, so anyone who enjoys playing cribbage should join them the second Saturday in Ceylon and the third Saturday in Welcome.

There will be children’s Christmas programs 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran and Waverly Lutheran churches. St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and Trinity Lutheran will combine their Sunday school classes for the program at the 10:30 a.m. service at Trinity Lutheran in Welcome. Waverly also will have its program as part of its 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday.

Welcome City Council will meet 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall. All members are urged to attend. There is always time before each meeting for public comments, but those wishing to be on the agenda should contact the city clerk prior to the meeting.

If you are mailing Christmas packages first class or priority mail, make sure you mail them by Thursday. For more information, contact the post office during open window hours. In Welcome, the window hours are 8 a.m. to noon Monday to Friday, and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Four Corner Birthday Club will meet for fellowship and a Christmas party 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Jean Beckendorf’s home. This year’s Secret Pals will be revealed. All members are encouraged to attend.
