Post-prom meeting slated

SHERBURN — Lutheran Women’s Missionary League of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will host its “Guest Day” at 2 p.m. today at the church.

There will be a program followed by a time of dessert, coffee and fellowship.

Everyone is invited to come and join them as they celebrate the Christmas season.

A post-prom committee meeting for Martin County West junior class parents will be 7 p.m. tonight in the cafeteria at the high school.

If you’re unable to attend but would be willing to participate or help in some way, please contact Jennifer Beseke at (507) 236-3320, Wendi Russenberger at (507) 236-2264 or Ann Harris at (507) 239-7678. They’re looking for helpers to assist with entertainment, decorating, food, fundraising, prize committees and as chaperones.

Sherburn Public Library located at 27 N. Main St. in Sherburn will host an open house from 3-5:30 p.m. Friday to show off the new look at the facility.

Refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome to stop in.

A pancake breakfast and bake sale benefit for Rachel Schafer, daughter of Phil and Julie Schafer of Sherburn, will be 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the MCW Jr./Sr. High School in Sherburn.

The benefit is a free will donation.

There also will be a bake sale with homemade Christmas treats. Rachel recently underwent open heart surgery. She also receives dialysis three times a week and is on a transplant list awaiting a kidney donor.

MCW Elementary School in Trimont recently had an “All for Books” coin challenge in the media center. Students, parents and others donated a total of $1,001.40, which will be used to buy new books for the library.

They would like to thank everyone who helped support this cause.

Glenn Henriksen will present a Christmas concert 2 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dunnell. There will be a free will offering.

A dessert reception will follow the concert. Everyone is welcome.

Happy birthday to Marvin Garbers of Sherburn who celebrated his 80th birthday Wednesday.
