Truman school is open for registration

TRUMAN — If you are interested in being on the Truman Community Education Advisory Board, please contact Courtney Studer at studerc@truman.k12.mn.us or call her at (507) 327-6917. The advisory board meets three times each year and brainstorms ideas which enhance the community education program in the Truman community. Please consider getting involved.

Truman City Council will meet 5:30 p.m. Monday at Truman City Hall. All meetings are open to the public.

The last session of evening swimming lessons for levels 2, 4, and 6 will be August 7-11. The cost for the group lessons is $35 per child or $50 for a private session per child. For questions or to enroll your child/children, call the pool during pool hours at (507) 776-8561 or Kim at (507) 402-0830.

A late-night swim will be held 9-10:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Truman Pool. Come and enjoy this last evening swim for the season.

“Ugly Duckling,” for pre-kindergarten through second graders, will run from 9-10 a.m. Aug. 14, in the Truman High School Learning Center or on the school grounds on the north side of the school. Children will hear this classic tale read and then learn about all the feathery characters involved. From eggs hatching, to ducks waddling, to swans flying, you will cover it all with hands-on activities, songs and crafts. This learning adventure is offered through Summer Fun Days PEBC. There is a $4 pre-registration fee. To register, call Courtney at (507) 327-6917 or email her at studerc@truman.k12.mn.us.

Truman Public School is now registering students pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. The three-year old pre-kindergarten class has scholarships available. This year four-year olds will be able to attend half-day classes five days per week at no cost. The program is called free voluntary preschool. Truman Public School also has a daycare program for infants through school-age children. The daycare hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. all year long. You are invited to stop at Truman Public School between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and ask questions, take a tour, or register your child/children. If you have questions or need further information, please call the Truman Public School Office at (507) 776-2111.

Don’t forget to visit the Truman Farmer’s Market from 3-6 p.m. on Fridays located in front of the NAPA store on Highway 15. Now is a perfect time to buy locally grown produce, flowers, fruit, etc. Vendors are welcome to set-up in this area free of charge.
