Trap shooting event this weekend

A 3-Club traveling trap shoot event will get underway this weekend. Week 1 will begin Sunday, Aug. 1 at East Chain Sportsman’s Club located a half-mile north of East Chain. The entry fee of $75 (includes all 3 shoots) must be paid before the first club shoot. (Also you must be at the first shoot to qualify for all 3 clubs). Week 2 will be held Sunday, Aug. 15, at the Center Creek Gun Club, one mile east of Huntley, and Week 3 will be held Sunday, Sept. 12 at the Fairmont Trap Club, 913 280th Ave., rural Granada. They will be shooting (50) 16-yard and (50) 25-yard targets each week. Shooters will be shooting for a cash purse with the amount of the purse depending on the number of shooters. CER announces upcoming activities

Community Education and Recreation (CER) will a community activity next week.

There will be a Lego Design class, for students entering grades 1-7, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, in Room 135 of the new CER location at the Southern MN Educational Center (SMEC), 115 S. Park St. in Fairmont. The children will learn science and math concepts while working with materials from the Lego Educational Division. Children will learn how to use levers, pulleys and gears in order to build projects such as carousels, drawbridges and conveyor belts. This class offers great hands-on learning opportunities for the beginner.

Bring a lunch and water bottle. The cost for the class is $76, which includes a Lego kit to take home. Please register ASAP. For more information, contact the CER office at (507) 235-3141 or go online to http://fairmont.k12.mn.us
