Heritage Acres to meet Thursday

Heritage Acres will meet Thursday in the Prairieville Building at Heritage Acres, Fairmont. A light dinner will be served at 6 p.m. followed by the business meeting. Current events will be reviewed as well as final planning for the Fourth of July celebration. All members and the public are invited to attend.

Help sought for placing of flags

Fairmont American Legion Post 36 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222 will place American flags on veterans’ graves Saturday at Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont. If you would like to volunteer, plan on meeting at the Lakeside Cemetery office by 7 a.m. The flags will remain in place until 1 p.m. May 28, allowing more time for community residents to view the cemetery. Volunteers will be needed to retrieve the flags that morning. In the event of rain, flags will be taken down in the afternoon on May 29. For more information, call Ernie Nuss at (507) 235-6281.

Ruby’s Pantry plans food distribution

Ruby’s Pantry, a community food outreach program, will hold a food distribution from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday at East Chain Evangelical Free Church, 507 280th Ave., rural East Chain. There are no income or residency guidelines. Ruby’s Pantry is funded by the $20 cash donation per participant for operational costs. Please bring two large boxes or laundry baskets for the food. Abigail Fitzgerald of Fairmont was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester of the 2018-2019 academic year at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa.

Alyson Eversman of Fairmont was awarded a bachelor’s degree in biology-ecological science during a commencement ceremony May 11 at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.
