Class of 1960 to lunch

Fairmont High School class of 1960, spouses and friends will meet for lunch 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Pizza Ranch, Fairmont.

3M employees, past and present, will meet for lunch noon Tuesday at Green Mill Restaurant, Fairmont.

Firearm safety training planned this month

A fall course for Minnesota firearm safety training has been scheduled. No pre-registration is required. Registration will take place 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10 in the cafeteria at Fairmont Elementary School. The classes will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, Sept. 10 through Oct. 15. The course consists of 25 hours of classroom training, a written exam, as well as a practical field exam. The field exam will be held 8 a.m. Oct. 6 at the Fairmont Trap Club. Fee for the class will be $15. All students must be at least 11 years old as of Sept. 10. Students under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian and have a copy of the student’s birth certificate for registration and additional course information. Students will receive a Firearm Safety Certificate upon satisfactory completion of the course. It is required that all individuals born after Jan. 1, 1980, have a Firearm Safety Certificate to purchase any type of hunting license in Minnesota.
