Fairmont tennis nets 6-1 triumph
REDWOOD FALLS — Fairmont won three matches and received three forfeits to beat Redwood Valley 6-1 in Big South Conference tennis action Tuesday in Redwood Falls.
Ameya Komaragiri eased to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Andrew Muetzel at first singles, while Thomas Klanderud took back-to-back 6-3 sets to beat Jacob Zollner at second singles.
Jack Hagen took a forfeit at third singles and Parker Vetter took a forfeit at fourth singles to complete the bracket sweep.
Carter Quist and Noah Vetter paired to come back from a 6-1 first-set loss to win the second set and supertiebreaker, 6-3, 10-6, respectively, over Cole Johnson and Laiten Goodthunder at first doubles.
Weston Loughmiller and Oliver Thedens took a forfeit at third doubles for another Fairmont team point.
Noah U’Ren and Levi Stoneberg earned Redwood Valley its lone team point with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Sebastian Castro and Dominick Lund-May at second doubles.
Fairmont (7-5) plays host to Blue Earth Area at 4 p.m. Thursday in a Big South dual meet at the Cardinal Courts.
