Warriors split doubleheader in Belmond
BELMOND, IOWA – The North Union Warriors’ girls basketball team took a 72-50 win over Belmond-Klemme during Top of Iowa Conference basketball action Tuesday night in Belmond, Iowa.
Chloe Lofstrom led the Warrior girls with 29 points and seven rebounds.
Lily Henderson helped the Warrior offense with 14 points and three assists, while Hope Steinberger patrolled the North Union defense with 11 steals to complement five points.
Vanessa Von Bank totalled nine points on three 3s.
North Union shot 29-for-59 from the field, including six of 13 from 3, and made eight of 11 free throws.
North Union (4-3) plays host to Bishop Garrigan at 6:15 p.m. Friday in Armstrong.
Belmond-Klemme 64, North Union 42 – The Broncos held the Warriors under 10 points in the second and third quarters to take a Top of Iowa Conference boys basketball win Tuesday in Belmond, Iowa.
Aiden Frees led the Warriors with 10 points, while Robert Ortman and Braden Pierce each scored six.
The Warriors shot 14-for-44 from the field, including seven of 15 from 3, and made seven of 16 tries from the charity stripe.
Jordan Meyer scored 22 points to lead the Broncos, while Tristan Yoder scored 19.
Belmond-Klemme hit 28 of 44 shots from the field and made three of seven free throws, while hitting five of nine attempts from behind the 3-point arc.
North Union (1-6) plays host to Bishop Garrigan at 7:30 p.m. Friday after the completion of the North Union girls game.
