Martins win back-to-back games

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont Martins posted back-to-back victories during amateur baseball action Friday night and Sunday afternoon.

Levi Becker generated two RBIs on three hits to power Fairmont to an 18-2 rout over Worthington Sunday.

Becker also pounded out five hits, including a home run, to drive in three runs to spark the Martins’ 12-run ninth to coast to a 15-6 win over the Blue Earth Pirates on Friday night.

Christian Petschke collected two hits and three RBIs for Fairmont in the nine-run win over Blue Earth, while Adam Schmidt delivered a two-run double. Lance Becker and Owen Wolter added two hits apiece.

Zach Wolter collected a pair of hits, while Jon Traetow contributed a two-run double to the Martins’ lopsided triumph over Worthington.

Ethan Hurn and Lance Becker each drilled doubles for Fairmont, Petschke netted two RBIs, while Owen Wolter and Schmidt chipped in hits.

Schmidt allowed two runs on two hits, and struck out 10 batters in five innings pitched to earn the win against Worthington.

The Martins (3-0) travel to Jackson on Wednesday, May 29, for a 7:30 p.m. game.
