Warriors coast to 54-point win

EAGLE GROVE, Iowa — The North Union Warriors engineered a 75-21 victory during Top of Iowa Conference girls basketball action on Tuesday in Eagle Grove, Iowa.

The Warriors held the Eagles to five points in each of the first and second quarters.

Samantha Hagedorn had a game-high 20 points on 7-for-11 shooting, including 4 of 6 from 3-point distance, with team highs of six rebounds and six assists, and a co-team-high five steals. Breanna Anderson produced 15 points, three assists and three rebounds.

Hallie Reese had five assists and a co-team-high five steals, while Kate Anderson ended the game with eight points, three steals and four rebounds for the Warriors. The Warriors made 29 of 64 shots from the field and 10 of 23 free throws.

North Union (9-0) host Garner-Hayfield/Ventura at 6:15 p.m. Friday in Armstrong.

PeeWee A team cages Luverne

FAIRMONT — Fairmont PeeWee A’s hockey team held Luverne to one goal for an 8-1 victory on Saturday. Eli Anderson scored four goals for Fairmont, which had 39 shots on goal.

Noah Nelson and Alexander Moeller each had two goals and two assists. Thomas Claeys doled out two assists, while Dominic Hegdal and Kyler Gronewald both finished with an assist in the win.

Carsen Musser made 12 saves for Fairmont.

Squirt A’s slides by New Ulm, 9-6

FAIRMONT — The TPI Hospitality Fairmont Squirt A’s  team topped the New Ulm Eagles, 9-6, during District 4 hockey action on Sunday.  Brock Lutterman scored four goals and had two assists, while Connor Gronewald had a hat trick. Jace Teveldal recorded three assists.

Hank Artz scored one goal and dished out two assists and Luke Kester had one goal and two assists.  Goalie Ethan Geerdes recorded 21 saves in the victory.

Fairmont hosts Marshall during Fairmont’s Hockey Day at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
