Bring Community Center to a vote To the Editor: Re: Fairmont Community Center There is many mixed feelings on this topic. The fair and correct way to solve this is to bring it to a vote. This vote you will use your name, address, valid drivers license and proof you are not a felon. The question on the ballot will be “Do you want the Fairmont Community Center?” If you answer “No” then your real estate taxes will not be raised ever, you will not have to pay the one-half percent of sales taxes or any increases of sales tax for the items you purchase by using a card that shows ...

Homecoming tailgate support appreciated To the Editor: On Sept. 30, 2022, Fairmont Partners in Education (PIE) held their annual Homecoming tailgate at Mahoney Field. We would like to thank all those who came out in support of Partners in Education and also the Cardinal football team. New vocational addition To the Editor: Congratulations to Fairmont Area Schools and the Fairmont community for your support of the new vocational building at Fairmont High School. Students in Martin County are fortunate to have access to a comprehensive public high school that has six vocational academies, 24 college courses, 23 fine arts activities and 23 varsity athletic programs. The implementation and growth of the vocational programs at Fairmont High School sets the Fairmont community apart from almost every other community. Support for Michelle Duncan To the Editor: I am supporting Michelle Duncan for County Recorder. I have known Michelle for many years and have worked with her as part of the Fairmont Community Hospital Foundation as we worked to support the medical needs of our area. Michelle was always on top of the tasks at hand as she used her experience as a legal assistant in the FCH mission. I have also found Michelle very knowledgeable and helpful in her duties at the Martin County Recorder’s office. What Biden has done To the Editor: Joe Biden has been in office for about 21 months. Let’s go over his accomplishments. 1. He shut down the Keystone Pipeline. Now he has depleted our petroleum reserves. 2. He allowed Russia to built their pipeline into Europe. 3. The price of gas has more than doubled. He blames it on the Ukrainian War. It was already above $4 per gallon before the war started. 4. Inflation is at a 40 year high (shades of Jimmy Carter). I paid $800 more for home heating for this coming winter than last year.
