Making community a better place

To the Editor: It continues to be a feel-good moment every time we look at our cleared trees and see all the work done by Lee Ann Steen and the MCW crew. It was a lot of hard work on their part. We want them to know it was all very much appreciated. Thanks, MCW, for thinking of others and following up that thinking with action. You are making our community and our world a better place. What Biden has done To the Editor: Joe Biden has been in office for about 21 months. Let’s go over his accomplishments. 1. He shut down the Keystone Pipeline. Now he has depleted our petroleum reserves. 2. He allowed Russia to built their pipeline into Europe. 3. The price of gas has more than doubled. He blames it on the Ukrainian War. It was already above $4 per gallon before the war started. 4. Inflation is at a 40 year high (shades of Jimmy Carter). I paid $800 more for home heating for this coming winter than last year. The stock market is tanking, along with ...

Who’s Opinion? To the Editor: In the Wednesday, Sept. 28 Opinion page, titled ‘What did these kids do to deserve this?’ you suggest the planes that were sent to Martha’s Vineyard were all children. How can that be, as it is one of the most exclusive places to reside in America. You print these opinions without putting your name under it, clearly ignoring the policy you expect your readers to follow. Also, who corrects the ...

Just follow the money To the Editor: People may wonder why President Biden is continuing to violate the Constitution, his oath of office, and numerous immigration laws. It may be a matter, as Hillary once said, of just following the money. With approximately 250,000 illegal immigrants coming across the border each month at an average of $6,000 per person that the human traffickers charge, the total sum they collect each month is about 1.5 billion dollars. Cartels are quite used to paying at least 10 percent of their funds to government officials and others for protection against ...

Hope to emulate your integrity To the Editor: It can be easy to opine that the country is going to crap. Political venom comes at us from every angle. Violence and lack of respect for each other creates many talking points. I believe I left my wallet at a HyVee self check-out. Probably never know for sure. The individual who brought it to the nice folks at customer service chose to remain anonymous. My hope, and one of my goals, is that the time I have remaining, I can emulate your integrity publicly... and anonymously. Paul Sandoz Fairmont
