Citizens of Ward 3: Vote Deb Foster on Nov. 8

To the Editor:

My mom, Deb Foster, is running for the Ward 3 City Council seat, and she is the best person for the job. After spending several years as the Mayor of Fairmont, she’s ready to face a new challenge, that of councilor. The best way to describe my mom’s ability to lead would be with the word “KIND.”

K – Knowledge. Serving as mayor for over half a decade, Deb Foster was given the opportunity to learn the ins-and-outs in city government and apply them to the Fairmont City Council. Having this background knowledge will make her a more informed, more educated leader for the constituents of Ward 3.

I – Invested. Deb Foster is fully invested in the growth of Fairmont. She looks for new, innovative ways to approach challenges the city may face, while maintaining a positive attitude with a genuine smile and a kind word for all.

N – No-negativity. Sadly, the chaos that has surrounded the city council in the last few years has left a nasty feeling for the leaders of the community. The focus has been much more on “Who said what?” instead of “What do our citizens need and deserve?” Through all of the negativity that has been present, Deb Foster has kept her composure, putting a positive spin on matters in her control and focusing on “What’s next? How can we help?”

D – Determined. Many stumbling blocks have been put in the council’s way over the last few years, especially when the COVID-19 pandemic began. Wrenches were thrown into many positive plans the city had in place, and a Plan B was necessary. “Give up” is not in my mother’s vocabulary, and she persevered through, focusing on good that could come from every possibly-negative situation.

Ward 3, a vote for Deb Foster on November 8 is a vote for kindness and positive leadership.
