Minnesota Food Share month To the Editor: Dear Neighbors, would you like to make a positive change in your community? March is FoodShare Month in Minnesota and Heaven’s Table Food Shelf in Fairmont is part of this statewide food and funds drive which runs from Feb. 27 to April 9, 2023. Belief in others restored To the Editor: On Sunday, Feb. 26, I was traveling through Fairmont. I first stopped at the Walmart store, then proceeded through town. At the intersection by the Dollar Tree, it appeared a person was stuck in the snow with an electric wheelchair. I circled around the block to help, arriving to find three other people had already stopped. At Walmart, a gentleman was wheeling a cart and assisting someone in a wheelchair. Kids against hunger Pack To the Editor: I just went to an amazing event. Singing, dancing, comedy, instruments, even painting. It was incredible and done entirely by high school students. What was this event? The Kids Against Hunger Variety Show. The students who participated were raising awareness about hunger in out local community and the world. They collected a free will offering to help raise money for the Kids Against Hunger Pack. Isn’t Minnesota great? To the Editor: On Feb. 1, the Sentinel proudly displayed front page headlines “Walz signs broad abortion rights bill.” So, now it is official, the democratic party is the party of abortion. What the article failed to mention is that because of this new law, they can legally kill helpless babies. The unborn will now feel the pain of having their limbs pulled from their bodies and their skulls crushed. Aren’t we proud? Global Warming and Rising Oceans To the Editor: Given that our state and federal governments are set on reducing CO2 emissions, I wonder how much difference it will make since the highest CO2 emitter, China, is really not doing much to reduce its CO2 emissions. In the meantime, developing nations, especially, India, are rapidly increasing their CO2 emissions. In the news we read that the glaciers are melting, and the ice caps are shrinking due to global warming which will cause the oceans to rise.
