Allan R. Tadd
FAIRMONT — A celebration of life visitation for Allan R. Tadd, 83, of Fairmont, Minn., formerly of Walnut Grove, Minn., will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday June 6, 2026, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Allan passed away Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, at his home in Fairmont with his wife by his side. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Allan Robert Tadd was born June 3, 1942, in Tracy, Minn., the son of Wyman and Alice (McDonald) Tadd. He grew up in Walnut Grove, Minn., where he attended school and graduated from Walnut Grove High School with the class of 1960.
On Jan. 16, 1959, Allan was united in marriage to Sharon Knapper. To this union, a daughter was born, Roxanna Tadd. The couple later divorced.
On Dec. 16, 1995, Allan was united in marriage to Vicky Scheff in Apple Valley, Minn. The couple made their home in Lakeville, Truman, and Fairmont, Minn.
Allan had a passion for construction and at one time, owned and operated his own business, Tadd Construction based in Sanborn, Minn., building homes for families. He also spent years working for Buhler Construction of Butterfield, Minn. One memorable job during this time was working on the music building at Mankato State University. His final adventure was with PCL Construction out of the Twin Cities. He worked as a manager/superintendent on many major projects, including the Mall of America, Rain Forest Café, Mystic Lake Casino, the Cancer Center in Mankato and also a job at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. Al had major responsibilities on seeing all projects were done right and buildings opened on time. He’d memorized all the blueprints for all the jobs he was working on to make sure there were no mistakes. All his building inspections always passed before opening day.
On March 15, 2004, Allan retired from PCL and spent many days and hours searching for the couple’s retirement home. Allan always dreamed of having an acreage and found the perfect acreage near Truman, Minn., that allowed him the space to create beautiful hand-crafted items and projects for family and friends. Allan stayed continuously busy with projects and spent years remodeling all the outbuildings.
Allan enjoyed staying busy and was always working on a new project. While living on their acreage near Truman, Allan could often be found on the mower, fixing up and repairing many of the buildings on the acreage, working in his bobcat, or riding around in his golf cart. He was so proud of his accomplishments.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Vicky Tadd; daughter, Roxie (Scot) Mackey; step-daughter, JoDell (Chris) Rakness; step-son, Justin Scheff; mother-in-law, LaDonna Schwieger; grandchildren, Bo (Missy) Ryan, and Brittan (Jeremy) Anderson; step-grandchildren, Dylan Rakness, Nate Rakness, and Claire Scheff; four great-grandchildren, Teagan Ryan, Kaden
