Welcome Summer Fetsival this weekend

WELCOME — A gathering to dedicate the AED for emergency use that will be placed outside the entrance will be at 1 p.m. today, July 18 at City Hall. This is a project the City received with a grant from Valero. It is a special unit for automated external defibrillation that can be outside and has a GPS tracker. The City will be updating it with internet charge. Thank you, Valero, for the special unit. The public is welcome to join.

The Welcome Summer Festival will be in full swing with a Pork Chop Feed from 5 to 7:30 p.m. tonight, July 18 at the Welcome Legion. The menu includes a pork chop, potatoes, baked beans, dinner roll and a beverage. Checks can be made to Welcome Fire Department Relief Association. The cost is $15 per adult, $8 for kids and five years and under eat free. All proceeds go toward the purchase of Fire Department equipment.

Other events today, July 18 include the city-wide garage/rummage sales, inflatables at the Keck Park from 5 to 9 p.m., Pedal Pull event at 6:30 p.m. (registration at 6 p.m.) on Hopp Street, DJ Chopper from 7 p.m. to midnight. by the Welcome Legion. On Saturday, the fun continues with a 5K (registration at 7 a.m. at Keck Park) at 8 a.m. and a classic Car Show from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Keck Park. Keck Park will have inflatables from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Bingo will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at St. Paul’s Community Church on Dugan Street. The parade line-up will be at 3:30 p.m. on Mill Street. The parade will be at 4:30 p.m. Steve Lang will be playing from 6 to 8 p.m. near the Welcome Legion. A mechanical bull will be from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. near the Welcome Legion The Pop Rocks will play from 8:30 p.m. to midnight in downtown. Don’t miss any of the fun in Welcome today and tomorrow.

Condolences to the families of John Scheff and Mildred Wohlhuter, who passed away. They will be missed by family and friends.

Tuesday Coffee Hours continue from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in July at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn (south of Interstate 90). Join friends and neighbors for fellowship with a cup of coffee and treats.

The American Red Cross Blood drives will be at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont on July 21 and at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn on Aug. 4. Sunday the Sundaes in the Park in Trimont will feature Mike Ennis as the entertainment and the usual good ice cream at 6 p.m. If it is inclement weather they will meet at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont.

The Ruby’s Pantry Grocery Distribution will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on July 21 at the parking lot of the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. $25 will get a trunk full of groceries. There are no residential or income guidelines.

Congratulations to Doug and Sherry Eisenmenger, who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Best wishes, and our wish is for many more.

The next celebration for Welcome High School Wildcats will be at 3 p.m. on July 26 at the Fox Lake Event Center. Plan to attend.

The Welcome Fire Department will have a pancake feed from 8 to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday July 27.
