MCW Schools begin Sept. 3

WELCOME — Circle of Faith parishes are reminded that the Sunday services schedule for the month of September is 9 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont and 10 a.m. services at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Waverly Lutheran will celebrate its 125th anniversary with a joint service beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 8. The Circle of Faith Sunday School begins at 10:15 a.m. on Sept. 15t and will alternate between Waverly and First Lutheran.

Condolences to the family of Norman Schley, who passed away recently. He will be missed.

Tuesday coffee hours for September will begin 8:30-10 a.m Sept. 3, at St. Paul’s Church in Welcome. Individuals are welcome to join them for goodies, coffee, and fellowship.

An American Red Cross blood drive will be held Sept. 3 and Sept. 4 at the Best Western hotel in Fairmont. To make an appointment and find blood drives near you, call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767), go online at www.redcrossblood.org, or text BLOODAPP to 90999.

The burn site for Welcome will be open from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4. Please bring only wood that is 6 inches in diameter or less. No garbage or other materials are allowed. This site is for Welcome residents only.

Martin County West Schools will begin Tuesday, Sept. 3 for grades 7-12 and Thursday, Sept. 5 for grades K-6.

The Welcome Historical Society Museum will open once more from 2-4 p.m. on Sept. 7. After that date, residents may call Vickie Nelson to make an appointment by calling (507) 236-7081.

Because of the Labor Day holiday on Monday, the Welcome City Council will hold its September meeting at 6 p.m. on Sept. 10 at the city hall in Welcome.
