Lunch & Learn next Wednesday
SHERBURN — Can’t believe it will be the end of June this Sunday. Most news will be for July, like the Friendship Club from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will meet 11 a.m. Monday, July 1, at the Farmer’s Daughter Restaurant in Blue Earth. The exit for Blue Earth from I-90 may be closed. Check out coming to Blue Earth on the old highway from Fairmont or exiting prior to Blue Earth and then coming to Blue Earth on the old highway. Any friends may join them. You need not be a member at St. John’s Church.
Tuesday coffee hours for the month of July will begin 8:30-10 a.m. July 2, at the Regional Worship Center just south of I-90 in Sherburn. Watch for signs to navigate the construction zone from Highway 4 construction. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee and great fellowship.
Tuesday Boredom Busters activities will be held 2:30 p.m. at the Sherburn Library. There are also summer storytimes at 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays at the library. It is a proven fact that reading during summer school vacation times helps children retain the skills learned in school.
There will be a CREST-sponsored Lunch and Learn program starting 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at the Sherburn Senior Center, followed by a light lunch. These interesting programs are free to anyone in Martin County. A free will donation is appreciated for the lunch.
‘Hamburger Night’ will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at the Sherburn Legion Hall. $10 will get you a burger with all the fixings, salad and baked beans. Plan to attend.
There is a Farmer’s Market in Trimont from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Fridays at Anderson Park. Follow the detour signs from the Highway 4 construction. There is also coffee, goodies and plenty of vendors.
American Red Cross blood drives are planned for July 15 in Welcome and July 22 at St. John Vianney in Fairmont. Condolences to the families of Sherburn residents and former Sherburn residents who passed away recently. Evelyn Kiethahn, Lois Davis, Bonnie Fjelstad, Vernon Handevidt, David Hanson and Lorraine Carlson from Trimont. They will be missed by friends and families.
Some area churches have summer service hours. St. John’s Lutheran in Sherburn has one service at 8:30 a.m. and a coffee hour times until Labor Day. Their partner church, St. Paul’s in Wilbert, has 10 a.m. Sunday services until Labor Day. St. Luke’s Catholic Church switches to Saturday evening services at 5 p.m. (July until September). On the third Wednesday they have a 10 a.m. service at the Temperance Lake Ridge facility. The Regional Worship Center just south of I-90 in Sherburn has services at 10 a.m. and Sunday School at 9 a.m. On Wednesday nights they have a meal at 5:30 p.m. and Bible study, recovery, youth group, Kids with a Purpose, toddler class and nursery at 6:30 p.m. for everyone. On Saturdays they have prayer time at 7 p.m. First Congregational has 10 a.m.

Camp Omega Day Camp for children in grades 1-6 will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to noon Friday, July 8-12, at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
