Blood drive in Trimont Monday

CEYLON — Today, March 30, is the day before Easter so there are quite a few Easter Egg events planned for area children. In Ceylon, there will be a Easter Bunny event, sponsored by the non-profit group, Helping Hands of Ceylon, from 1-3 p.m. at the old city hall building across from the post office. Cookies and juice are available and the Easter Bunny will pass out treat bags and be available for pictures with the children. Other area egg hunts are planned at 9 a.m. in Sherburn, 10 a.m. in Welcome, 10 a.m. in Dunnell and 10 a.m. at the Town Center in Trimont. Watch for weather-related announcements since it rained and snowed.

Easter Sunday church services in the area are planned also. St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Wilbert will have Easter Service at 8 a.m. with a breakfast following the service. Their dual congregation at St. John’s Lutheran in Sherburn will have Easter Services at 7 a.m. and at 9:30 a.m. with a breakfast and egg hunt scheduled between the services. St. Peter Lutheran in Ceylon is part of the Circle of Faith parishes and their Easter Service is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. at Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome, with a breakfast to follow the service. The breakfast is another fundraiser for the youth group. Circle of Faith parishes will switch to their April services schedule after Easter with 9 a.m.

services at St. Peter Lutheran in Ceylon and 10:30 a.m. services at Waverly Lutheran. St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn will have its Easter services at 10:30 a.m. They will switch to their spring/summer schedule with Sunday services at 10:30 a.m. from April to June. Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon is planning their Saturday evening services at 5:30 p.m. on April 6. All area residents are welcome to join these congregations for services.

Tuesday coffee hours for April will begin 8:30-10 a.m. each Tuesday beginning April 2 at Sinn Family Celebration of Life facility in Trimont. Join neighbors and friends for fellowship with coffee and goodies.

Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont is also the site for an American Red Cross blood drive from 12:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, April 1. Blood is urgently needed so give if you are able.

The WELCA women’s group at St. Peter Lutheran Church will meet 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3 at the church. St. Peter congregation is also collecting items for Heaven’s Table Food Shelf during the month of April.

Ceylon Community Day Auction and Rummage Sales Day will be on April 13. There will be a map of rummage sales printed and online thanks to Linda Bakke from Ceylon. She asks that rummage/garage sales information be given to her by April 9. Maps will be at the bus (auction office) and the post office.

April 13 is the last cribbage tournament for the spring at Welcome Legion Hall. Registration will begin at 1:15 p.m., with play getting underway at 1:30 p.m. The cribbage tournaments will resume in October.

The huge rummage and bake sale at Martin Luther High School in Northrop is scheduled for April 11 to 13. This is traditionally a good resource for inexpensive children’s clothes and more.
