Last midweek lenten services

SHERBURN — There will be a Lunch & Learn program beginning 11 a.m. today, March 20, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, followed by a lunch. These educational and entertaining programs are free to anyone in Martin County. A free will donation for the lunch is appreciated.

There will be ‘Hamburger Night’ from 6-8 p.m. tonight, March 20, at the Sherburn Legion. They will serve a burger with all the fixings, salad and baked beans, for only $10.

Tonight, March 20, is the last midweek Wednesday Lenten service at area churches since next week is Holy Week (the week before Easter). St. John’s Lutheran Church has a service at 6 p.m. and a meal to follow. St. John’s Palm Sunday services are scheduled for 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Circle of Faith parishes have a meal at 6 p.m. and a Lenten service to follow at 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Their Palm Sunday services are planned for 9 a.m. at Trinity in Welcome and 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont.

Condolences to the families of Eunice Eisenmenger, Dori Kain and Cecil Keithahn, who passed away recently. They will be missed.

Waverly Lutheran Church women will be tying quilts from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 21 and Friday, March 22. Anyone interested may attend. Only tying skills are required, no special quilting skills.

The Sherburn Theatre will show the film ‘Ghost Busters: Frozen Empire’ this weekend, March 22-24 and next weekend, March 29-31. Show times at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sundays.The MCW Spring Play will use the theatre on April 5-7.

Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, March 25 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.on Wednesday, March 27, near the city hall building. Call the appointment line at (507) 238-8500 and mention the Sherburn location.

American Red Cross blood drives will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m on March 29, at the Live Fit gym in Fairmont and from 12:30-6:30 p.m. March 29, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. Martin County West schools will have an early dismissal on March 27 and the schools will be closed from March 28 to April 2. The senior class trip to Washington D.C. will be March 24 to 29. Area residents are reminded that there will be a special referendum election on May 13. Attend the special meetings and be an informed voter. The website is www.martin.k12.mn.us. It has lots of information.

Martin Luther High School annual spring rummage sales will be held 4-8 p.m. on April 11, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on April 12, and 8 a.m. to noon on April 13. On April 13 they will sell a bag full of items for just $3.
