Trimont Farmers’ Market begins today

WELCOME — The first summer Trimont Farmers’ Market will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, Friday, June 5, at Anderson Park in Trimont. During the farmers’ market, coffee and a meal with local, seasonal vegetables, fruits and treats will be served for a free-will donation, part of the Clara Adamson Memorial fundraiser for the Trimont Community Food Shelf. In addition to many vendors, there will be children activities, games, craft and snacks from 10 a.m. to noon for children ages zero to 16. They ask that an adult accompany children under four years old. New vendors are always welcome. Sundaes at the Park will begin with the Trimont Centennial Band at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, at Triumph Memorial Park in Trimont. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy music and ice cream in Trimont.

The Welcome Historical Museum will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 6. There are two floors of interesting exhibits including a 1930s kitchen, photos dating back to the 1890s and mannequins with period clothes from World War I and World War II, wedding dresses, Welcome High School athletic and band uniforms, Fox Lake Village, obituary records and family histories for genealogy research. Circle of Faith Parishes are reminded that June services will be held at 9 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Trimont and at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Note the changes as the rotation of parishes begins in June.

The Welcome Legion will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 8, at the Legion Hall. All members are encouraged to attend.

Coffee Hours are from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in June at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee, treats and fellowship.

St. Paul’s Community Church is gearing up for its special 125th anniversary at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 14. It will have a gathering for reminiscing from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. with coffee and cookies. The American Red Cross blood drives will be on Monday, June 15 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont, on Friday, June 19 at the American Legion in Fairmont, and on Monday, June 29 at Truman Community Hall, St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome and Trimont Covenant Church. The Friendship Club from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn is sponsoring a bus trip for the day to the Plymouth Playhouse in Iowa on July 18. They will need 40 people to sign up for this fun trip. There will be lunch and then 2 p.m. matinee play, “A Second Helping”. It is a sequel to the “Church Basement Ladies” comedy. The cost is $120 for the trip, lunch and play. What a deal. Anyone from the area may join them. Membership at St. John’s is not required. Sounds like a fun day and no driving.
